General dentistry

The everyday work: the cavity that needs filling, the tooth that needs a crown, the molar that can no longer be saved, the check-up that confirms all is well. It has no glamorous name, but it is what keeps a mouth working for decades.

When to come in

  • You feel a hole, a sharp edge, or a change in the shape of a tooth.
  • A tooth fractured or a filling came out.
  • Sensitivity to cold or sweet in one specific spot.
  • It has simply been a long time since your last check-up.

What you should know

When several things need attention, not all of them are urgent and they do not all have to be done in the same month. An honest plan sorts them by priority and tells you what can wait. Be wary of a quote that treats everything as urgent.

Common questions

Do white fillings last less than silver ones?

Modern composites perform well in most cases. Durability depends more on the size of the restoration, your bite and your hygiene than on the material itself.

When is a crown needed instead of a filling?

When little healthy tooth remains. A large restoration on a weakened tooth tends to fracture; a crown wraps it and spreads the force of the bite.

Will my wisdom teeth be removed?

Not necessarily. They are extracted when they cause problems, not as a matter of routine. The X-ray and their position decide.
